Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap
Jun 20 2010

FTK.

For the kids.

Over the next 5 weeks, I’m gonna learn a lot,

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to stay up late: creating lessons, management plans and assessments,

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to set my alarm at 4:45am and walk through pre-dawn light so I can eat a hearty breakfast and get my lunch so I can be on my game,

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to ride an unairconditioned school bus for an hour and a half everyday so I can be at school,

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to teach 7th grade reading and math,

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to walk through the heat, dust and mosquito swarms to get to the Resource Center and print lab, or to meet with my collaborative teaching partner or Corps Member Advisor,

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to cultivate new professional contacts and relationships (and probably go out of touch with old one for a bit…),

For the kids.

Over the next five weeks, I’m probably going to go crazy,

For the kids.

I’m only just beginning to realize how hard I will be working, FOR THE KIDS.
